The uniforms are being supplied by Nalitex, a company that was established in 2024.
Although the company appears relatively new, details surrounding its ownership and links to other businesses have raised questions about how it secured the major government contract.
Records show that Selpha Chesimi Temoi is listed as a director of Nalitex. Temoi, however, reportedly owns only two of the company's 1,000 shares.
The identity of the person holding the remaining 998 shares has not been clearly established, adding another layer of mystery around the ownership of the company.
Nalitex also uses postal address PO Box 7766-00200 Nairobi. The same address is associated with Tela Alusala & Company, an auditing firm run by accountant Charles Tela Alusala.
Alusala has previously been linked to businesses associated with the Ruto family. He is reported to own an 10.83 per cent stake in Amaco Insurance, a company in which President Ruto also has interests.
Other businesses connected to the same address have also drawn attention. They include Urban Groove Apartments, a property linked to First Lady Rachel Ruto and her daughter Charlene Ruto.
The address has therefore become an important part of the questions surrounding the uniform tender.
There are also reported links between Nalitex and legislator Fred Kapondi, whose name has been associated with the company's director.
However, the existence of shared addresses or business associations does not, on its own, prove that the individuals involved benefited improperly from the tender.
The growing scrutiny is instead likely to increase calls for greater transparency over Nalitex's ownership, its qualifications and the process through which it won the multi-billion-shilling police uniform contract.
For now, the biggest unanswered question remains: who ultimately owns the company supplying Kenya's police uniforms?
